Kumho 712s are STILL one of the best bang for the buck tires out there.
      You can pay a lot more some better, but for the price, they are better than a lot of stuff.

          I have done a lot of research on tires. My ex-Wrangler (I miss her) and my wife's Cherokee - goodyear wrangler radials exclusively. My bimmer and my firebird - gsa's. I think tires are a personal preference and experience thing. It gets my goat when people say they suck when my experience is exactly the opposite. Some Goodyear's are expensive, but worth it, imho.

            I bought BF Goodrich Traction TA for my bird a few months ago. I live in SJ and I am eager to see how they are in the snow. Gotta be a ton better than the stock GAs

              No off the line traction, wore out in 15k, handled ok, hydroplanning became a big problem and I know there not snow rated and thats for a good reason. They were cheap so I guess it's the you get what you pay for. IMHO worst tire I have ever owned and with never buy another one of their products agian.

              Goodyears, My camaro came with the GA's as stated above, they suck.

              My cav has the RSA's, I think they stand for Really sucks A$$.

              My best friends jeep has the GSA's, I think they named these get stuck anywhere

              Shelley's PT has the LS, Those are pretty noisey and wet weather sucks.

              Everyone likes a certin tire for a reason, I haven't found a goodyear tire that comes close to being good and at a decent price (when compared to other). Lucky for me I guess, I have never waste my money on goodyears, They come on all the cars above.

                    i bought (or shelled out for) my camaro which came with goodyear eagle GAs.
                    i am not partial at all to those POSes.

The only tires that could be considered better would be the Falken RT-615 Azenis, BFGoodrich Comp T/A KD's, and maybe Hankook R-S2 Z212's. My stock height Toyota Tacoma pulled .95 lateral G's (as measured with the Race Technology DL-1 data logging system) on 225/50-16 Kumho Ecsta MX's right before it was time to replace them. All other street Kumho's are like Goodyears, basic tires with no traction and inadequate grip. The Ecsta 712's are not that great of a tire (low grip and squeal like pigs to let you know it) - and bang for the buck they lose hands down to the Yokohama ES-100's. Kumho Race tires are a different story, the Ecsta V710 is the tire everyone wants for it price plus its performance is on par with the Hoosier R3S04.

                      As for Goodyear, to me their Touring/Allseason tires are not worth any amount of money - worst tires I've every had on a vehicle. Wet traction non-existant, dry traction nearly non existant... overall, BLEH! I could spin those tires taking of normally with my automatic '90 Integra GS on dry asphalt! And they couldn't handle turning left at an intersection after it had rained for a short while (long enough to get all the oil off the road surface)- I was going between 5-10mph straight ahead into the stopped opposing lane across the intersection when I had the wheel turned left. And forget about braking performance since you have no grip to stop you in a decent time. [img]graemlins/rant.gif[/img] The Dunlop D-60A2's the Integra GS came with when I got were much better than those Goodyear Eagle Touring junkers! The Goodyear high-end performance tires are supposed to be really good though, like the F1 GS-D3 for example.

                      Of course snow throws everything for a loop and trying to get a tire that does everything (snow, dry traction, wet traction, responsive handling, long life) is impossible. If you need good tires for the summer and winter it would be best to get a set for the summer and a set for the winter...otherwise it's a compromise.

                        Asking about favotite tires is kinda like asking about a person's favorite type of underwear. (translation: It's a highly personal decision) Some like boxers, some like briefs, and occasionally you meet that random freak who wears a thong to church. The point is everyone has their own unique reason for their decision that sometimes make little or no sense to anyone else.

                        As my signature implies, I like the twisties. I also log a lot of miles in bad weather climates. Over time I've come to the conclusion that my tires are perhaps the most important factor in how confidently I can carve a curve, so I picked a tire that has a good amount of cornering grip with predictable performance at its limit but are also good in the snow (Pirelli P7000 SS's). Each of the 3 previous sets I've owned have given me 45-60k miles and I'm going to be really sad when it's time to take off my current set and pick a new tire. :(

                        Tires are all about compromises. What works on the street may not work on the track, suck in the wet, and have an ugly tread pattern. Which tire you like is usually an indication about what is important to you performance wise and how you really use your car. With that in mind, I think I might see a set of Michelin Pilot sport A/S's in my future, but the jury's still out.

                        If you like a pretty tire that handles like crap, that's a personal call. I'm willing to pay a little more for the piece of mind of knowing that my tires can confidently handle a panic lane change at 90 mph.

                          ^dont be sad about a new tire change. change is good, cause we are advancing technologically.
                          your pirellis and michellins will be a thing of the past and there will be a new improved version.

                          my OPINION is that i like my tires to have good dry traction, high temperature, and long treadwear/treadlife. but my opinions change as does the Climate in my area which i cant control.

                          fact of the matter: you need to do your research so you can build your own opinion based on your driving conditions.

                                Really? That’s what im using now. Nice wear, look not bad, traction on snow – 0. way overrated. I had to get BF winter tires because those are so baad. I hate to take BFs off in summer. Damn sales people sold a Dodge Caravan upgrade to me instead of high performance tires I asked :(
