  • damn and blast!!! (lowering crap up)

well, was gonna spend my day lowerin the car today... so, get into it, all is going quite well... it says, unhook the sway bar, sounds simple enough, well its not, my nut/big long bolt are rusted together, i spray ****loads of that stuff on there, y'know, wrench in a can, give 'er, and give and give... no dice... eventually, i did it, oh, i did it alright, i snapped the mother-lovin bolt in two... ****... so, i continue, and later realize, although incredibly difficult, one can remove the spring/shocks without the removal of the sway bar... so, both are out (shocks/springs.)

i put the compressor on, all is fine.... go to undo some bolt at the top... crap, its rusted, and i mean rusted... game over, u CANNOT do anything here but replace the shocks, so after all that, and breaking the sway bar joint, nothing... my back, which i've always had problems with, cuz its so long, is literally killing me, i can barely walk right now,

so, i replace the stock set up, which isnt easy, very tight, needs a lot of strength, which i was running low on (feeling pretty ****ty too, now...), but i got them on again, **** i'm pissed...

i'm gonna put the new rims on, get an alignment, get a replacement bolt, or even maybe new sway bar bushings... and soon order new shocks.....

what a waste of a day, i feel crap, physically, i broke my sway bar bushing bolt... and my hands are really really dirty (i have my anniversary dinner in like 2 hrs.. they aint gonna be clean).... but at least i'm a dab hand at f-body suspension now

I was thinking to myself "Why in HELL is removing his sway bar to do his springs/shocks?"

Well, there's my reason to do the full write up.

i can see doing it without removing the bolt, however it is a lot easier to reinstall the shock/springs with the sway bar removed (a lot more slack in the lower control arm), also, all 3 of my guides to doing it said to do so, so i figured...

watch out for the upper strut mounts......................ive seen in many cases the bolts rust so bad you have no choice but to replace them.

So all that work and you didnt put new shocks in? Get ready to do it all over again when you put new shocks in. I have done 5 shock/spring installs and have never once took the sway bar out... you dont need to.

That top bolt can be a bítch sometimes, drastic times call for drastic measures :D .. http://www.sicksixx.com/MODDAY32.jpg
