ride quality and handling w/ 1LE swaybars & poly bushings/endlinks?

I have been running 1LE bars on a bone stock suspension almost since I bought my camaro. I absolutely love the bars and feel that the 32/21 combination is great for even the most highspeed maneuvers. Now, I don't autoX, Im more of a roadracer, but I prefer the larger rear swaybar.

The oversteer is supermild - even in wet conditions.

All you can do is try it, theyre easy to install. If you dont like it - try something else [img]smile.gif[/img] . They made a world of difference for me, and for the stock springs/shocks I think theyre perfect. In the future I might invest in a 35mm front bar, but thats only if I decide to stick with stock springs or something soft like stock springs.

oh yeah - ride quality is just as good as before, you only notice that now cornering is much flatter and more predictable.

Sway bars and springs work together on turns. Think of the front sway bar along with front springs at the same time. Similarily for the rear. Then compare front to rear.

360 lb/in and 32mm 1LE bar
95.4 lbs/in and 21mm 1LE bar

Make the front numbers bigger for more understeer, and make the rear numbers bigger for more oversteer. Smaller numbers in the front cause more oversteer and smaller numbers in the back cause more understeer. Test drive the car and tweak. The above numbers work very well for me.

Thanks for clearing up all that stuff Dominic. I know that swaybars are probly the last thing I should do if I'm gonna completely re-build the suspension on my car, but I really wanted something that will make a big difference in cornering and straight-line traction in the same package since I already have 255-50 kumho's and will be putting on a FTRA and 3" exhaust within the next month as well as be installing a Torsen LSD when I get my rear end serviced.

My near future suspension/chassis plans are looking like G2 sfc's and v-braces, BMR adjustable lca's, and maybe the Ground Control Coil-Over kit at the end of the year, but this will most likely be pushed back until I can afford Koni adjustable shocks to be bought at the same time. The reason why I'm going w/ a coil-over kit is because when I get a gfx kit, I want to lower it as much as possible w/o worrying about damaging the body kit in town w/ some of the weird roads I have here. I'd lower the car probly no more than 1" in the front and 1.25"-1.5" in the rear.

The timing for all of this is dependent on my cashflow in each month from my job and any extra stuff I do, so it may take a longer or shorter period of time than I'm anticipating, but be sure you guy will be hearing from me monthly now asking for reviews of components, not just suspension, but also ignition, fuel system, cooling, ect.

Hey, in my earlier post, about the rear of the car being squirrely, that was only when the tire pressure was lowered. Low tire pressure did seem to be more of an issue with the new bars.

But with good tire pressure, the new bars are much better than the originals. I have not found the rear breakaway point yet, even under heavy acceleration, and I routinely found it before (with the old bars)...

LMPerformance, no prob. It's just my dad started tripping about everything since the last time we ordered stuff, it was from Thunder racing and it was online, his credit card # was jacked. We got all that fixed and squared away w/ thunder racing, but we're still kinda tweaked about the whole thing, so he just wanted to see what was up. As far as tire pressures and the swaybars, I'm running kumho 255-50's inflated to recommended specs.

The 1LE sways w/ poly bushings and endlinks are the only suspension mod I've done to my ride. Flatter turns, less body roll. Doesn't seem to have affected over/under steer. But then again, I'm not an overly aggressive driver either. Maybe it's because I'm still learning the limitations of my ride, or because I've finally gotten my insurace step down. But either way... if you're looking to better your normal driving conditions, the 1LE's are great.
