Guys I need your help. I been looking on e-bay and summit for good prices on shocks, especially KYB AGX. Summit guys said they sell "struts" for the front only and shocks for the back. I've seen pictures that the "front struts" have the shock and some sort of metal attached at the top. But I've seen in e-bay guys selling "front shocks" only for cheaper, and the pictures show only the front shock without the metal thing at the top. Maybe I'm confused with the terms. Please explain.

Would you explain the difference between a front shock and a front strut. Do our cars have the strut already may be reusable. Sorry about my ignorance. Please, explain.

4th gen f bodies have coil over shocks. it is a common misconception that they are struts, but they are not. the term for our cars is basically interchangeable, you will get the same thing if you buy "struts" or "shocks" for our cars.

                Re: "Shocks" and "struts"

Whatever shocks you end up buying, make sure to get a new set of upper shock mounts and isolators. And find a shop to disassemble everything for you, because most likely the upper nut will be frozen, making it even more dangerous to work with. You will need to reuse the bumpstop and cup, the T-washer pressed into the body of the shock, and the dustcover. I searched high-and-low for these parts online, and could not find replacements anywhere. And they're not available through GM anymore either.

                  Re: "Shocks" and "struts"

Look through my posts. I just did this. Its easy. But your gonna throw away the old assembly. Period. Just buy all new ****, and get strano springs the ride is decent and the handling is very nice.

For the front you will need, insulators, isolators, mounts, **** the dust cover( it just makes ****ing noise, and bump stops. For the back you need nothing except a sawzal and an air hammer. For its easy, and you can get everything from an autoparts store, just go through sam strano for springs and shocks.
