hey guys i was wondering since i am gonna be changing my rotors , probably the brembo replacement rotors from tirerack can i put napa cermaic pads on them. i heard somewhere i dunno if it was here or not that cermanic pads r only from slotted or cross drilled rotors only. Having no brake dust would be nice for a change i think. what do u guys recommend on rotors and pads? by the way last yr i got my rotors turned and there are little groves it seems like on them and the hawk pads i have dust too much in my opinion.

question about new rotors/pads

they would be most efficient on sloted rotors, but not necessary. Just dont put them on used, or even slightly used rotors. you want to have a nice smooth surface for them.
I put them on my wifes car (regular rotors) and they are NICE!!\'01 Mineral Grey SVT Cobra
-former F-body owner

also since i am gonna be gettin new rotors and pads , i will need to bleed all 4 brakes too, correct? what do i need to do in order to bleed my brakes, is there all detailed instructions like install university has when i change rotors and pads?2000 firebird w68, auto, t-tops , 3.42 , k&n, whisper lid, taylor 8mm spark plug wires , bosch spark plugs , 3\"in/out carsound CAT , 3\" i pipe, take off trans am muffler, C6 Z06 rims

you dont need to bleed the brakes unless you unhook the brake lines... theres no need to do that unless you are upgrading your calipers to a better system or changning the lines themselves. your 2000 comes w/ a pretty good brake setup, so I wouldnt bother.
You will use a big (6") C-clamp or a brake compressor to push the piston back into the caliper so that you can get the new pads in and then get the caliper over the rotor. once you get everything reassembled, just remember to pump your brake pedal a couple of times to build up pressure in the lines again.\'01 Mineral Grey SVT Cobra
-former F-body owner

i've been refering to swaping out pads and rotors from install university is that a good source? any helpful hints because this will be my first time doing brakes.2000 firebird w68, auto, t-tops , 3.42 , k&n, whisper lid, taylor 8mm spark plug wires , bosch spark plugs , 3\"in/out carsound CAT , 3\" i pipe, take off trans am muffler, C6 Z06 rims

dude, brakes are easy. the rotors just come right off. just pull. the calipers use two allen bolts, pop the caliper off and hold it in your hand, pop the pads out, use a C clamp like Ellik said and tighten it in the piston to push the piston all the way open, then just put the new pads on and reattach everything. Its simple.

ok cool the setup i am goin for r autozone rotors and napa cermanic pads how does that sound, any suggestions? and is it true that cermanic pads create more heat and need slotted rotors and u shouldnt put em on plain blank rotors?2000 firebird w68, auto, t-tops , 3.42 , k&n, whisper lid, taylor 8mm spark plug wires , bosch spark plugs , 3\"in/out carsound CAT , 3\" i pipe, take off trans am muffler, C6 Z06 rims

Slotted rotors aren't really for heat dissipation, more for brake gas exhaustion - these days, they're a purely "looks" thing. So long as the rotor you've got going on is beefy enough and isn't cheap, ceramic pads are fine.http://www.cardomain.com/id/kefkafloyd
Red 1997 Pontiac Firebird 3.8L A4 w/ Y87
