• What is TRUE 1LE for a 2002?

One of the goals I have for my car is for it to be a 100% true 1LE component performer. The problem is I'm not entirely sure what parts are the real 1LE pieces and which aren't. I've been told the WS6 stuff was 1LE, or the Firehawk came with it stock or it was an upgradge, I've heard many different things. But what is the cold hard facts?! Right now I have at least the panhard rod, LCAs, and possibly the swaybars. I'm not sure what set of springs/shocks are 1LE. Also, there is a 1LE tranny mount and an aluminum driveshaft correct? Is the V8 aluminum driveshaft the same one part #?

Lots of questions, but I've just seen too much contradicting info around the net to be sure. I say we get it straight in one post

Okay well it's 4am and I just asked a dumb question. You can pretty much just ignore all but the tranny mount and driveshaft portion or the question above... sorry I'm tired and slightly drunk. Cut me some slack!

1LE is an RPO code... so if a car has that code, it has 1LE parts. Pretty self explanatory.

Why go all 1LE? Why not go aftermarket?

The guys at SLP told me to go aftermarket. They said 1LE is not very good bang for the buck.

Depends what you want to do. 1LE RLCAs and PHR are a nice compromise for both kinds of handling (turns, straightline), and are readily available. 1LE also designated shocks, springs, and bushings in the front arms. All of those last components are more difficult to find, and not worth the trouble. (springs yes, front suspension no).

Snag the driveshaft though.

So suppose something like this would not be a worthwhile upgrade for a old 3.4L??

If those are real 1LE parts, that guy is an idiot for selling them that cheap. I've heard that most people don't like the 1LE springs, but the shocks are the best you can get if you know how to tune them. They're very expensive though. If you want 1LE info, go to a 1LE website. That's where you're going to find the best info.

The only 1LE parts I recommend are as follows:
PHR
LCAs
Swaybars with bushings
Trans Mount

everything else you want to change you should go aftermarket. After running aftermarket, I prefer 1LE for street duty.
