    Re: What tubular K Member?

Im pretty sure the spohn k-member allows you to simply bolt on the front brake line brackets. With the PA you have to figure out how you want to hang them yourself.

Where on their site do they have a V6 specific? I don't see it. I see only one for 93-02 F-body's and it's LSx.

you have to add it in the notes when ordering to use 3.4 or 3.8l motor mounts. Same price as a v8 kmember. Or you can email or call and they can get you taken care of

So with mounts Chromoly and road race option the PA racing one is $600, man that added up fast.

          The Spohn unit still $765.

Hmmm.... and from what I have heard Spohn quality is outstanding, how do you guys with the PA racing one feel about it's quality?

            Re: What tubular K Member?

I actually want to take a look under my car cause it sounds like I have something banging around under there...I have no flipping idea what it is...Im thinking exhaust related because I cant see anything wrong from up top of the engine bay. So I'll let you know about quality as soon as I verify nothings wrong with it underneath lol....Ive smacked rediculous amount of potholes on my USA trip...couldnt avoid the damn things.

I have the standard PA racing K frame on my car, and ya, I just told PA racing to put the v6 mounts on the car...install was a breeze, there is a slot that you can attach a bracket for your brakes on either side, but you will need to make some kinda clamp or bracket to attach to your brake lines...or do like I did...just ziptie them until you figure something out...now I have like an L-bracket from Canadian tire attaching them with a screw. (it may of just been like this for me though, because I ran all brand new brake lines so I cant remeber if the old lines already had some kinda bracket there)

Install wise it fit like a glove...everything lined up...was just a PIA to get the old one out...and good luck getting the lower A arms off...mine were seized to the old frame...a torch and 6lb sledge hammer couldnt get the bolt after we had the whole piece out of the car and on the floor lol....oh, and mine is not chromoly...just the regular one.

As far as weight goes, I never actually measured it, but I'll say this...you needed 2 people to move the old K-frame and A-arms attached, and the new piece with A arms attached I lifted with one hand...non-chromoly

edit: I should also add that it raised the front end of my car up a good 2.5 inches because of the weight savings...so you might want to look into lowering springs/coilovers to bring the front end back down...I can almost get a coke can between my tire and the fender, my car looks goofy at the moment....

I'm going to get the upper/lower A-arms at the same time I think :) So no worries there. The Spohn unit also comes with all new mounting hardware.

I have qa1's front and back on order along with some other goodies already I'll post up a pic of all the goodies when they arrive to make you all jealous :P lol

Currently I am leaning towards the Spohn unit even though it's more expensive.

Spohn also puts a discount code on their facebook every week as well which brings it down 15 or so, not much but it helps.

I have the PA racing K member on my 3.4 liter V6. The only issue I had with mine is where the lower shock bolts up to the lower A arm. I had to straighten both sides out and then reinforce the backside with a 3/8 threaded bar. Some guys reinforced this area with welded gussets.

PA Racing A-arms or GM stock?

If your going with the coil-overs you wont need spring perches then.

With QA1's you still need spring perches. They mount just like any other front spring.

Got this directly from PA's site:
Our k-member will accept stock a-arms, or for additional weight loss and performance enhancement we also offer tubular a-arms. K-members are available set up for stock style coil springs or in a coil over version that eliminates the upper spring perch for additional weight savings. Our jig was built around the factory k-member providing for an exact fit and factory exact dimensions.

Well I have decided against Chromoly, I think, and against PA racing. Have seen a few broken PA Racing ones floating around the net.

So I will be getting a Spohn mild steel one. Unless they convince me other wise over the phone when I call them tomorrow
