Re: What tubular K Member?
I'm planning on going with the Spohn setup when I get to my turbo build (hopefully next winter). From what I've read and heard, I think that would be the best choice for me anyways. Plus it helps working at an aftermarket parts distributor, I can usually get almost wholesale pricing on most things!Last edited by CFreed11; 03-17-2011, 10:51 PM.aka FreedStyle

So I will be getting a Spohn mild steel one. Unless they convince me other wise over the phone when I call them tomorrow
That is what happens when people buy race parts and use them on the street.
Spohn parts are what GM used in their show cars.

Re: What tubular K Member?
Well the K member and A arms are going to be mild steel and not chromoly.
Talked to Spohn and Thunder Racing and both said mild steel is fine for a street car. Unless you're going to an all out race car with serious weight reduction and every pound counts mild steel is fine.
Lady at Spohn also said she has customers driving around with mild steel K-member 800whp+ on mild steel so good enough for me :D

Re: What tubular K Member?
well, I checked on my K-frame when I was under there yesterday summerizing the car...still looks good...no breaks, nothing wrong with her....so I've had mine a little over a year now, and I've smoked some pretty damn big potholes...fwiw, I've also managed to crack my front sway bar (no flipping idea how)...PA K-frames still fine...

Re: What tubular K Member?
I know my non road race PA racing K and A arms are good, but theres no pot holes in AZ so I'm not too worried, I paid $240 shipped for my 20lb used K member, can't beat that.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: What tubular K Member?
:) Well I think this thread proves that either one is fine. Spohn may be just a little bit better, but PA seems to be pretty darn good as well.
Personally seeing those broken K members made me too nervous to get the PA racing one. And I have heard nothing but great things about Spohn.

ya I seen those pics to in the past when I did my research...most of em were on the v8's and it turned out to be some faulty welds...all of em were a long time ago though, and I believe PA rectified the problem....I got there lower A arms to, and Im probably gunna snag a set of there Upper arms to when I look to the a QA1/strange setup on the car hopefully this year...

Re: What tubular K Member?
Running a PARacing K w/ RR reinforcement. Bought it off Techsan actually :) Using stock arms, waiting on UMI to release their LG style control arms as tubular A-arms here would fold within the first week of driving here. Our streets are rough as can be.
Not sure what control arms I'm talking about? They'll look something like this...
