  • Summer Tire Time...which one?

Time to take the studded tires off and go for some all-seasons to get me through till winter again.

I'm looking at new tires in a 245/50/16 size and have come down to either

    Kumho Ecsta AST - 97h 400/A/A

    or

    Falken Ziex 912 - 97h 360/AA/A

Daily driving mostly town, I just want something thats gonna perform well and last

    Any thoughts, suggestions?

I used to have Firestone Firehawk 275s on all fours, great tires, sucked *** in the rain, worse in the snow, looked awesome cause they were wide, made autocross racing interesting haha BUT the road noise was terrible.

Im thinking about picking up these

225s up front and 255 in back, does that sounds alright?

I got the Falken's for my mom's car before. They were alright, not a great tire by any means but pretty good for the money.

        Right now I'm running these:

So far I'm pretty happy with them, but I haven't had them long enough to say that much about them. They do have some good grip, they don't make much noise, and they are pretty responsive.

If you want an all season tire that has good grip and lasts a long time then these are really good:

This is what I was running before I got my winter tires and summer tires. They had good grip for an all season tire, made no noise, and lasted 48k miles. In fact two of them are still good and are on the other car. The only bad thing is they are only a 225, but they are still good.

Kumos has their AGX tire that is great for summer and is not that costly either.

I have been running Hankook ventus's HRIIs, been happy, just a summer tire though, definitely not a tire for the winter. lol

I loved my hankook ventus HRII's I wish they made the tire big enough to fit the vette rims...good grip and they last forever taking a beating and not being rotated!

I'm curious to hear what the o/p ended up with, and how they're working. EDIT - never mind... :D

I've put about 20k miles now on a set of Sumitomo HTR A/S P01s, and they absolutely rock. The dry traction is outstanding, way better than the ZRi's I had on the car before them, and in the wet they are rock solid. I've never felt even a hint of hydroplaning, even at highway speeds in heavy rain. IMO you won't find a better tire for the price. At 20k miles there is still over 1/2 the tread depth, so I'm expecting to get 45k-50k out of them. That's about as good as you're going to get from a tire with this much grip.
