Springs should suit EXACTLY what you do with your car. What *exactly* do you want out of it? What do you do with it? Do you road race it? Do you autoX it? Drag race? Street race?

Stiffer isn't better, you have a zillion options from cheapo progressives to expensive coil overs.

OK! now, with auto-X if you have never done it before. i reccomend that you get a nice set of tires and run in the stock class. you will learn ALOT more with a stock car then you will with a highly modifyed car.

but alot of people are just in to it for the fun.. and mod the hall out of their cars..

but if you want to be "good" i reccoemnd that you stock with what you have for now and get as much time in the seat as you can!.. save your money..

when you start to talk about changing springs things get very techincal in a hurry.. so before we even get into that you need to figure out! "how low you want to go".. how rough of a ride are you willing to deal with? how much money do you have to spend?? and what class do you want to run in??? all of these are factors that need to be determined and then considerd..

ok.. i would spend your money on going to events and getting experience with the camaro.. its the best advice i cna give anyone..

"i dont want to buy coil overs at the moment"

IMHO coil overs are the way to go.. but they are not for everyone.. this is really where money comes into play.. make a budget and decided what you want to get out of your upgrade.. consider all he things I listed above.. effectivly by doing this you will probably be able to make the decision for yourself.. but if you need an opinion i will gladly give you one.. also dont be cheep.. save your money and get what you really want VS. just buying a bunch of stuff that you may or may not really like for the long haul..

                    again.. way tooooo general..

with coil overs you dont really have the option of pregressive rate springs.. but you dont really need them either because you can choose any linear spring rate you could ever want..

the impartant thing with springs is that you buy a shock that "works with it" or matches teh spring rate.. there is a science to it.. sam strano of strano parts has almost master this art.. if you are interested in the technical side of things you really ought to call him..

basicly what he will do is he will find a spring that matches the shocks you want to run.. or he will revalve a set of shocks to work for you.. very few other places know how to do this well..

so i would give him a call or post here with a budget..

DONT just buy any old set of springs.. they will make your car handale better.. but can ruin your shocks.. or you may be paying for something that may or may not give you the best results for the money..

                    good luck

I think you would probably be satisfied with a set of the H&R or Eibach lowering springs, the 1.5" drop and increase in spring rate will be enough for you and won't harm autoX times. If you change springs be sure to get decent shocks for them, and for that *as mentioned above* I would talk to Sam Strano about it.

sorry, I was a little abrasive.. I am just getting kinda worn out on really really general posts.. I want to help people.. but I cant if they dont give me an idea about what they want..

simply because i dont like giving out pure flat opinion, everyone has one of those.. thus I try and get a little more info and then give them the options.. yah know?
