  • V8 Lowering springs.

    Hi,
Has anyone used V8 lowering springs on a V6? How much weight difference is the between the LT-1 and 3800 front ends? I have a 5 speed car with no options other than A/C which I'm going to assume is a lot lighter than a fully loaded Z28. I think I just answered my own question:)

    Thanks.

Someone told me that the iron 3800 and aluminum LS1 weigh about the same.

But the LT weighs more... not sure how much but it's significant.

LT1 weighs about 200 more, should be fine.

Are they made for a V8? I don't see too many vendors advertising V6 specific springs.

Yes they are made for a v8. Honestly. If your really worried about it, get QA1 coilovers for the front.

The V8s and V6s don't weigh the same, but the difference isn't that much when it comes to aftermarket springs. You can use V8 springs just fine. Most people do.

                      Re: V8 Lowering springs.

I have the BMR springs on my car ('02), which are listed for the V8 only, and they work just fine. The front didn't lower as much as advertised, maybe 1/4" to 3/8", but that was fine with me, and the rears did drop the car a full 1", so now it sits pretty much dead level. They are also stiffer than the Eibachs, but not so much that it kills you (the progressive rates help there too), but the difference in handling is night and day. Pair them with a good set of shocks (I have AGXs for the time being) and you should be very happy with the result.

                        Re: V8 Lowering springs.

The reason I'm asking is because I've come across a set of Eibachs for $180, made for a V8. If I can getaway with using them, I'd save some cash. Up here these puppies sell for close to $300. The P/N is 4.3138.

Thanks to everyone for the help.
