  • Swaybar Help!!!

Help! I'm becoming frustrated with my attempt to install new sway bars! I have a 98 and everything seems to be nice and rusty... I had to cut off the endlinks because they were not budging at all. But now I'm trying to remove the brackets that hold the D bushings in place, and I've gone through 2 13mm ratchet heads without any movement at all. Does anyone have any tricks to getting these off aside from cutting through them as well? I dont have replacements at the moment...Thanks.

Use a wire brush to clear off all the rust and oxidation.

Then soak with PB Blaster. This stuff works so much better than WD40. Shoot it every half hour for a couple hours, and it should come loose.

Yeah, I soaked mine with that PB Blaster, but I ended up breaking one bolt that holds the bushing bracket on. I just drilled it out and re-tapped it. Took an extra hour to finish, but it worked great. Them bolts were rusty...bigtime!!

Remember to try to clean and soak the top side of the bolts if you can..

Multiple soaks with PB, and a breaker bar w/ a 13mm 1/2 socket, would do it nicely.
