Air Springs $65 What are these and how do they work?
Yea i just saw that in Jeg's and i was surprised. $65 for air springs!? i want to know how they work, like can i adjust the height and tension by just pumping some air in there, or out of it. And will the ride be softer then coils? Also does anyone have these?
those are used to stiffen the rear right side spring to keep the Fbody level when you launch. Ever notice how the car wants to twist under hard launch? Watch a V8 sometime with about 500hp launch off the line, you'll see what I mean.
Arent those airbag suspension they use on low rider trucks? Don't you need to have a big air compressor in your car to make it work?I don't think its worth it. I'm pretty sure u need to buy alot more than that.
There are _all kinds_ of air springs. Some are used by drag racers, some are used for bracing a vehicle to carry heavy loads so the rear doesn't dip. Some are used for effect on show cars, usually with onboard compressors to play games with them. You fill others with compressed air, like you would a tire.
Some motorcycles have them. Someone even tried them in Formula One for a while. Lots of buses, trucks, etc. Google search "air springs" and you'll see a lot of them.
Usually they are meant to be added to coil springs, not used instead of them. These particular ones don't look like they would improve performance or ride. If you need to carry concrete blocks in your trunk....
