• ABS INOP sucks!!!!

What's up guys?
About 2 weeks ago, i started my car and the abs inop light came on. this has happened before, but it went off. this time it stayed on. i was wondering if it was the usual burnt 3rd brake light or low fluid, but both checked out. and just to test it, i slammed the brakes on a straight stretch of road at 1 in the morning and sure enough, i left about 10 feet of 9 inch wide stripes on the road. this is not safe! i've also noticed that my pedal pulsates and the car seems to have a warped rotor, but i don't know if that would cause the abs to shut off. however, on to my question... what could be causing this, and is this something i can repair on my own? thanks in advance for you help.

Check your ABS sensors and make sure they are plugged in and not damaged in anyway.

I had that light come on once, but it was because I unplugged the sensor to put new shocks in and forgot to plug it back in.

I found another possible cause, and this worked for me.

While visually inspecting the wiring to the right front wheel sensor, I noticed that the bundle had some sort of foil wrap on it. Hmmm... noise susceptibility. Then I noticed that the bundle was routed precariously close to the #6 spark plug wire.

I took the electrical engineer's way out and just slightly rerouted the sensor bundle, and used a zip tie to hold it away from the plug wires. There is at least a three inch gap now, and lo-and-behold, problem solved. No more ABS INOP light.

I fixed with a 1 cent zip tie what most garages would have charged big bucks to troubleshoot and repair.

Check the routing of those wires.

There is a similar arrangement on the driver's side - check there too.
...it\'s lonely out in space...
