  • 1LE panhard rod

So yesterday i spend a grip load of time putting on my panhard rod. I know it should have only take a little while but the i kept my car on the garage and it was really difficult to get to the bolts and what not. So i finally got what should have been like 10 min job in a little under 45 mins and i am really happy with the result.
I have a bigger sway bar like it says, and this got the rear more stable. I really didn't think that i would notice the difference, but i really could. You see i normally take this down hill turn at like 90ish, and the car feels really shakey. I hit it at 100 with this on and the car felt nice and stable, not that i could take it faster, just alot more stable than it did before. For the dirt that this mod costs, i would say that it is a must do.
I hope someother people with this on chime in and tell me if they had the same experiance or if my head is just imagining stuff cause i really do feel a small difference and i really didn't think i would be able to feel anything at all.
Two thumbs up, for the cost.

My stock PHR looks identical to the one from my pal's '01 WS6. I would think it would have the 1LE PHR, but I dunno. If they're different, then what's the difference? Just the bushings?

Yea my entire rear suspension is 1LE stuff from my friend's car.. he moved to all tubular BMR stuff and he gave me his 1LE as payment for helping him.... pretty much everythign on my car cam from him one way or another.... he would move up to a better part and I would get his for free or cheap... I think i have like 1000 bucks in my car.... but yea, 1LE stuff is a nice subtle upgrade, especialy if you can find it cheap

Swaybars are designed to work with specific spring rates. Putting SS swaybars on a V6 with stock springs is not the hot setup, and could lead to dangerous handling in some circumstances.

what do you think about the SS bars in combination with ST springs and KYB struts/shocks

Picking bars is about the toughest suspension mod there is, and I'm unfamiliar with those springs.

My best advice is to ask ST springs what bars they suggest with their springs. A set of springs/bars matched by a professional engineer (GM counts) is your best bet. There's a lot of screwy advice on bars on the net.

The shocks matter a lot less than the springs in picking bars.

i know ST is going to reccomend their bars, lol, but from the research i've done their front bar is the almighty, but weighs 14lbs more than the SS bar, and their rear bar is much too large, (solid 24mm)

                          Good grief.

You sound like you know something about this, maybe more than me. I was mostly worried about the SS bars on V6 springs. It's the kind of thing a novice does, thinking the SS bars are just "better"..

If you have the ST spring rates handy, I could give you my amateur opinion of the SS bars with them.

i installed tubular panhard rod and tubular LCA (poly bushings) and three point sub frame connectors and alluminum driveline all at the same time. (i put all four wheels on doubled up 2x10's to get it in the air but still under load and level when i torqued everything)

Seeing as i put all those parts on at the same time i can't compare specificly but the car is quite a bit stiffer and handles much better. (especially in slolom type driving or hard sharp cornering)

in 10,000 more miles i will pretty much be finishing the suspension with bilstein HD shocks.

for those intereseted there are affordable options for tubular lca, panhard rod, etc., on ebay. works for me.
