  • Sway bar upgrade with NEW stock spring rates

Question, can the sway bars be changed out to 32/19 without changing the stock spring rates of 257/114? If not is it at all possible to get new springs that will work with the 32/19 sway bar setup but will not lower the ride height of my camaro?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

You should be fine with a 32/19 setup, aslong as your not Auto-X on the streets.lol

yup thats true i have that set up on my camaro right now. it will give the car a slight push if you start to over drive the car in autocross.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the responses. I'm just going to be driving this car on the street so no worries about auto-x performance requirements. I basically have no suspension now since I have never done any work on it and I figured why not update those sway-bars since they are relatively inexpensive.

im going to have to try to find a 21 rear then. i have a 24 rear but that will be too big i think. when you do the swap make sure to upgrade to poly mounts and endlinks as well to make sure your making the most of the new bars.

I would say 24mm rear is too big unless your front is a 35mm and have other suspension mods done and plan to Auto-X.

32/19 works just fine for the V6. 32/21 is gonna bite you if you drive it in any conditions outside of dry. My car will try to rotate pretty quickly with a 19mm bar.

You can stay with stock springs as long as they aren't sagging and get bilstein HD shocks if you have the old DeCarbons. That will give you good handling response without being too firm.

32/19 on stock springs/shocks was pretty sweet for autox/PDE on my car.

I'm using greasable polly swaybar bushings and endlinks and purchasing new stock springs because they are beginning to sag, but I am going with kyb gas-a-just shocks to stick to my budget. I'm also putting in new moog bushings and ball joints in the front and polly ball LCA's in the back. So pretty much brand new suspension!!!

nope, 32/21 is perfect. Everyone I know running that set up loves it too, thats why it was a factory performance option. I had it on my v6 and loved it, guess you just gotta know how to drive the car.

Agx and stranos are out of my budget, besides I really don't want to lower the car at all. Yea I know it's a lot of work but it'll be done over the christmas holidays so I'll have a whole week to get it done.

I'm confused.. KYB AGX are KYB Adjustable Gas Shocks. I have em and couldn't be happier. Not that I know what I'm doing with my suspension anyways.

If you're going with aftermarket springs it's going to lower your car. All aftermarket springs are at least a 1/2in or 1in lower I can't remember exactly. I have to get some new springs all around too so if you find some at a decent price let me know.
