I knowticed in the rain my car likes to slide out while turning, i could only imagine what it would be like in the winter :(
Are sand bags the trick to getting rear wheel drive cars to stick during winter? I started looking into a cheap car so I could store my firebird for the winter but if sandbags will do the trick theres no need to buy another car.1999 Mustang GT(Car Domain)
1998 Pontiac Firebird(Car Domain) *SOLD*

PA - Maple Grove Test\'N\'Tune April 15th

well, to make a long story short, i went half of last winter without sandbags and it was hell, finally got sandbags and it made things MUCH better. not to the point that it was a good winter car, but i was able to get traction alot easier when starting at a stop sign or whatever, and when i turned, i actually turned instead of just going straight ahead with my car sideways. But sandbags and good tires make it possible.

okay, i'll put my money towards a good set of winter tires and sand bags. Does this hurt the shocks at all, carrying all that extra weight for a long period of time?1999 Mustang GT(Car Domain)
1998 Pontiac Firebird(Car Domain) *SOLD*

PA - Maple Grove Test\'N\'Tune April 15th

The tires will make a huge difference. Having a winter set (all 4) already mounted on your stock rims and putting the pretties away for spring is the best call. Having an LSD (I'm trying a locker) is good, and my Bilsteins prolly don't give a rats rear what I put in the trunk. Those shocks have even smoothed out the lunar landscape that is "Main Street" in my town.\'01 Camaro Vert ~ Black on Teal (but Mean Green in the sun)

Tires, weight, and a lsd make a huge difference, but more than anything you just have to change the way you drive in the snow and rain. Take everything slower, brake earlier, and don't hit the gas as soon or as hard when cornering.

lsd = limited slip differential. it makes it so both your wheels drive the car at all times instead of just one. in the winter, itll help cause both of your rear tires are clawing away to help propel you rather than just one. a great performance upgrade year round.Phill

95 camaro... need money for turbo project...
94 S10 Blazer - winter beater - infinity system to be installed soon

\"The man who says it cant be done should not interrupt the man doing it...\"

you may already have a LSD. when you do a burn out do both wheels spin or just one?
or just check your door codes. on your drivers side door, there a big list of letters and numbers. write them all down and look up which ones you have. look them up here http://tech.firebirdv6.com/generalspecs.html
and dont go crazy with sand bags in the back, 75lbs will probually be anough. i wouldnt go over 100lbs. anything over that is just overkill.1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.
