Need new rotors

Well I need new front rotors and I want to go ahead and upgrade them. I've heard so many different opinions on whether or not to get drilled and slotted rotors or just slotted rotors. So what do you guys think, which are better?

Logic says that a blank rotor will have more wear surface, less stress concentrations, and a larger heat capacity than an equivalent rotor with holes and slots. This can also lead to increased pad wear rate. I look at it as an aesthetic modification that can have negative effects on pad/rotor life. I ran drilled rotors for a year or so without issue and then sold the car. It would be an extreme disappointment for rotors to last only a year, so that's not saying much. Your best performance will likely be with a high quality blank.

^ Like he said stick with good flat rotors. Unless you are racing and need more heat dissipation you're only going to have weaker rotors with slots and/or holes.

Well I don't race the car at all considering it's a daily driver. It was just an idea I was considering. Thanks for the info and opinions guys.

4 yrs and 20,000 miles ago i went with a $300 set of ebc drilled and slotted rotors and ebc pads, i believe the red box, step below the ceramic. they've held up really good and ive gotten a few compliments on how awesome they look. i bought the car from my sister and the stock rotors were bad so i replaced with these, so i cant really give you a good comparison with the stock ones, all i can say is that im really happy. the pads could be a little cleaner as far as brake dust and rim cleaning. apparently the drilled holes are a place for cracks to start but ebc's holes arent all the way through and are more like dimples. the entire rotor seems to come dipped in a black coating, then your breaking surface wears shiny and the slots and holes stay black and never rust. id totally buy em again.

If you just daily drive the car there is no point in upgrading the already good brakin system you have. If you wanted to upgrade go to a vette rotor setup. Ive noticed no difference in stopping power with going from solid disc to a drilled or slotted rotor.

The other reason I was thinking of picking up the slotted rotors is because when it rains, my brakes are next to useless for a brief moment when first applied.

Edit: Not sure if the slots would help this or not.

Although ws6store had $160 for 4 rotors when I bought from them.

They've been good. Just a DD also, about 10 or so k miles. I'd buy them again.

Perfect, I think I'll go with those. I've read a lot of good reviews on them and they aren't really expensive either.

Also have EBC rotors on the bird, and will be installing on the Implala SS shortly.

Alright well I decided I'll be ordering 4 slotted rotors off ws6store as well as ceramic pads off of there as well. In total I'll be paying around 320 depending on shipping.

just to let you know the ceramic pads last a long time but you will loose some braking ability with them. im running ceramics right now and considering swapping them out for a pad with more iron in them. i just need to get them to wear some more before i swap them out. if hawk pads were not so expansive i would grab a set of them.

So I got my rotors and pads installed yesterday with no problems, and they work great. Only thing is I have to pull my e-brake up to where its almost vertical for it to engage, when beforehand with my old brakes it only had to be up at about a 45 degree angle. Any ideas whats going on?
