  • trouble after new front brakes installed.

Hey, it's been a long time since I have posted on this site.

Anyways, I have a 2000 Camaro and I just installed new rotors and brake pads on the front. When re-assembly was finished I noticed that the passenger side wheel was extremely hard to spin. I took it all apart, and replaced the caliper since I noticed brake fluid leaking from the rubber boot of one of the pistons.

So I put the new caliper on, torqued everything down, and still the wheel is impossible to rotate. My car won't get up over 40 mph and I don't want to heat soak/warp this new rotor.

My mechanic friend says I need to replace the brake line that goes from the caliper to the chasis. It's just that cheap rubber hose that's about a foot long. My drivers side is great, no problems what-so-ever. This has now happened with the old caliper and a brand new caliper. Any suggestions?

Did you lube the caliper slide pins with silicone grease?

Loosen the brake line from the calipier to the point fluid leaks out and see if the wheel will then turn.

well it turns out it's the caliper mount where the side pins are. They are welded on with rust. I can't get them out for the life of me. JB blasted for several days, along with my best vice grips and I can't yank 'em. any suggestions? And finding a new bracket is almost impossible these days..

Aren't the slides in the caliper?
