  • QA1 install

Went to pop the rear shocks I picked up a few weeks ago in yesterday and apparently the rear lower bolts that were in my KYB shocks do not go through the bottom of the Qa1 shocks.

What type of hardware are you guys using for the rear shocks at bottom of the Qa1's?

And, did anyone else notice the Qa1 rears are a little shorter than our rear shocks? Or atleast they are shorter than my KYB AGX shocks...is that normal? Steve, I'm kinda directing this your way as I know you went from KYB's to QA1's.

You have to enlarge the bottom holes so the QA-1 will fit, as for length just make sure the shock is fully out before install.

Hm, I just used the QA1 specific mounting bolts. I think they're for the f-series shocks.

That's what I got, where'd you get the bolts? (I got my shocks used)

Steve, I'm not a fan of drilling the holes bigger, seems to me like they would lose intergrity. How would it be possible for the shocks to not fully be extended? Are they adjustable or something?...one seems a bit longer than the other as well?

Mine are adjustable , just make sure their fully extended ,pull on the end , only way your going to get them on is to drill the hole bigger. Mine were for the F-body and I had to drill them bigger, no big deal they still work well.

Adjustable how? Do you undo the nut at the top of the tube by the shaft?

couldnt seem to find the parts on scoggin ****ey. I contacted QA1 with no reponse as of yet. Any one else drill these?

Warshrike, what does the hardware look like? are they just regular bolts I can go buy? The bolts for the KYB shocks have like some kinda spacer/bushing on them?

Mike you should be able to pick up shock bolts from any good parts store.

but that would fit the QA1? because there hole seems to be smaller? unless the stock bolts that go into the kyb's was bigger?

Yes the QA1s have smaller top nut than stock or any other shock I've seen.

I'd walk into a local bolt depot or parts store and say I want to stick my thing...in here.

Lol, I should say that to one of the girls in there...

Seems like my bottom bolts for the KYB's have some kinda spacer to them as well...so I'm concerned with geometry of the shock

I think its about 3/4 of an inch.

I have an old set of stock de carbon shocks around I will try to get the lower bolts out for you Mike.
