• Are there stiff springs out there that keep close to stock ride height?

I want to get some stiff springs to complement the other mods I have on my suspension. I think the stock V6 springs are the weakest point in my setup right now. The thing is I don't want to lower the car at all. Its low enough for my liking I don't want problems when I put on 17'' wheels (17x9 TT II's :D ). Who makes springs that are really stiff but keep stock, or very close to stock ride height? Does such a thing exist?

1LE springs are your only choice.

Here is a picture of V6 front springs(left) versus 1LE front springs(right). V6 is 40.5cm and 1LE is 36.5cm. So about 1.5inch diff. Even though 1LEs are shorter my car scrapes way less. I used to scrape going down this steep driveway. Even on an angle and going 1mph. But now I can go down straight and not scrape. Even with more speed. I feel like I can take even stiffer springs in the front and have a comfortable ride. Definitaly a great buy.

        Dom,

What was the difference in ride height if any? And how much were the springs and from where did u get them?

Do you know the length of the standard v8 springs?

It's probably the same. I can't really tell as I didn't measure the car's height.

I don't. Maybe someone here does. Keep in mind that V8 and more so 1LE will not compress as much as V6 springs. So even though they are shorter they won't lower.

Yeah, I am aware of that. Since I now know the free length of the v6 springs and I can measure the static compressed length on the car, I could figure out the force on each spring. From that, I could figure out how much the V8 or 1LE springs would compress and how the ride height would change. But I need the free length of those to calculate the compressed length.

If anyone else has the length of the V8 springs I would appreceiate the info

Are the 1LE springs that much stiffer than the V8s? I want springs that are going to border on a harsh ride for best performance. They cost (from gm parts direct anyway) almost as much as an aftermarket set of lowering springs. I want to be sure I'm getting what I want for that money.

I'd like to hear opinions on them from a performance and ride quality standpoint from anyone who owns them. Thanks

The front 1LE springs are about 25% stiffer than stock V8 springs, and the rears are between 14% 50% stiffer than stock. The rear 1LE springs are progressive, that is why the percentage changes.

I don't have any first hand experinence with them, but those are how the specs look. You can look in the technical database for the actual numbers on both GM and aftermarket springs if you haven't already.

Yeah, I read that stuff. You can compare numbers all day, but experience with them is just as telling. I like to do a lot of research before buying. :D

On slponline.com they have V8 springs for 93-02 camaros that come on the z28's stock. they want 50 for all four, would this be a good choice for higher performance springs????

Have you thought about the Eibach Pro kit? They are suppose to be 1.3 inches lower, which is better than 1.5. I'm sure the Eibach's are probably better as well, but that's just a guess.

If you want as close to stock as possible with a high performance spring then the Eibachs are probably for you. My friend has a little 95 v6 stang, he had Eibachs, I don't know what kind. They were pretty stiff. Sometimes they were kind of harsh but diffenetly tolerable. Then again, I don't know what type they were. Post a question for those people who have the Pro line. If they aren't too harsh then I would say they are worth it. I plan to buy them myself. I don't plan on paying 220 for them. I'm sure you can check on ebay or the other f-body sites. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a pair for cheaper.

On a note for bottoming out and hitting the GFX. For me I want the stiffest sprig possible so I don't boucne up and down. I don't plan to replace too many GFX pieces.
