I want to lower ONLY the rear......

The rear of my 94 firebird seems to have a bigger gap than in the front. The front looks fine to me its just that the rears gap is 1 1/2 inches bigger than in the front (I measured it) First off is it SAFE to lower just the rear??? I just want to level the car out...I dont want it super low, and I want to lessen that gap in the back. I noticed that older (93,94) Firebirds and Camaros have this big gap in the rear. Has anyone just lowered the rear, if you have could you post some pics of your ride. I have Zanetti 18 inch rims and 245's all around. I will post some pics in a day or so. Thanks

There is a mod where you remove the rubber insulators above the rear springs then thread reinforced hose onto the top coil of the rear springs before reinstalling the springs. Cheap and easy to do.

That depends on how you do it. You do _not_ want lowering springs (or cut springs) on the rear only. That will mess up the handling.

What do yoou mean "depends how I do it" I will buy some good quality springs, as a matter of fact the springs I'm looking to get are GM springs they are just 1 inch shorter, what do u guys think??

The thing that matters is the spring rate, not quality, not GM. Click "Technical Database" at the top of the page, then click "Suspension" then scroll down to GM Stock Fbody Springs. You'll see all kinds of spring rates for stock GM springs.

Look, you asked if it was safe. It is a fact that stiffening the rear springs (and leaving the front unchanged) will cause the rear to lose traction in the turns. In my opinion, changing the rear springs only is not a good idea.

i know what you mean about the uneven height. there is a car like that around here that just looks like a horrible suspension job. i think the best way to do it is change both front and rear springs and shocks. that might fix the problem.

I have the same problem. My front looks fine but the back of the car looks at least 2 inches higher than the front. would changing both front and rear springs and shocks lower the front even more?

The front on my car looks great, its the rear that I dont like how it looks, I dont want to lower the front because I dont want clearance problems. What if I lower the front 1/2 inch and the rear 2 inches?? will that cause problems???
