  • about to put on my new LCAs

I got a set of Lakewoods from Jegs and am about to put them on tomorrow. Is there any specific torque that the bolts are supposed to be when i put the new ones on? Or is it just supposed to be tighter than a bastard?

80 ft-lbs is close to the torque on a lug nut, just for reference.

If you go much over that, you'll compress the sides of the mounting bracket, and bind the lca. The nut is the type that has an interference fit to the bolt, and shouldn't back off.

A torque wrench would be a good idea. A beam style (rather than a clicker) should be pretty cheap. Or borrow one from somebody.

The lakewoods didn't fit because the retards at Jegs thought they would. So I got the SLP LCAs and I like em. My wheelhop is now GONE! But now i need to put on my shocks because they are shot. Just wanted to say thanks to all the info you guys gave me.

That's interesting since mine fit and have worked fine for years.

Harbor Freight sells a clicker type torque wrench for about $20. It's Pittsburgh brand (not known for the best quality) but it's perfect for the shade-tree mechanic! I highly recommend buying one for using on the car.
