if the wheel is 15 inches and tires that are mounted on it are 215/70R15's...

    what is the wheel width?

    Can it be 6 inches?
    Can it be 7 inches?

I need to buy a set of wheels and I need to know if 215/70R15's will fit on.

ps thats not for my car

Any tire has a recommended rim width. This page gives some examples:

Based on this 6 looks fine, 7 is getting close to too wide. Look up your tires to be sure.

I would go with the 6" rims. Although I do beleive that the stock steel rims on F-Bodies with that 215/60R16 tire was a 7" rim, but it is also just a little less profile. Just go with the 6".
