  • help w/broken brake line needed

I was swapping out my stock rubber brake hoses with the stainless braided set today when I developed a serious problem. I was taking the old line off the hard steel line that runs under the car and the fitting was rusted in place, so instead of unscrewing and coming loose, it twisted and tore the hard steel line. Has anyone else ever dealt with this? If so, where did you get a replacement and what size/type of line is it? It's obvious how badly this needs to be fixed so someone that's done this, please help me. BTW I tried searching and didn't get any results pertaining to this at all. Thanks in advance for any help I get.

You'll need to have the entire hardline replaced. The line itself probably doesn't cost much if you can get it from GM pre-bent, but I don't know if it's available. A good brake shop has hardline they can bend to need, and can probably make you a new hardline for a price. As to how much either of these'll cost I don't know, so ask around..

I would take your problem as an oppertunity. I'd buy my own brake lines, flare kit, lots'a brake fluid, and bend my own lines. I made my own brake lines from the center pumpkin of the rear to the rear calipers. The old lines were beat! So I bent new ones. If you are going to bend your own, be careful not to mount them anywhere they can/will be pinched. Almost every auto store sells brake lines. Take youe old broken line(s) over there and match them up.
