is there such a thing for our cars? or could it even be taken out of a vette and slapped on our cars? i mean, seeing as how the ls1's rearends and ours are the same. just a thought, i know it would be sick if someone did it. id like to, haha. thanks in advance.

This wouldn't be a simple 'bolt-on' if it were possible. Also, remember that the Vette's trans is in the back of the car, not the front. Also, in reference to the LS1 statement, while the C5 & V8 F-body both uses the LS1, that's where the similarities end. The suspension, both front & rear, is different.

I was daydreaming the same thing today. Thats one thing I mis about driving my vette everyday. That thing just sticks. The camaro is my everyday car now. I've found that a 12yearold car isn't the most reliable. Back to the subject. I think it would be pretty hard because there isn't anywhere to mount alot of those pieces.Unless you fabricated them. Big job.

I think you'd want to use the rear out of a C4 Vette.

Now thinking about it, I think places like Lingenfelter sells just the rear-end from Vette's for F-bodies, but it's still not cheap, and not going to do much in the ways of handling either.

hm, so it would be interchangeable? i mean, for the most part. I'll take a look into that. I know it wouldnt do wonders for handling, but wouldnt it get more power to the ground more efficently? i mean, there would be little\no body torque...i think, haha. well it was just an idea, who knows.

Interchangable is not the right word. First, you need somewhere on the chassis to mount the differental and suspension arms. With the double a-arms, an upper and lower, it is even more complex. And since all the power and loading must be supported at these mounting points, it wouldn't be as simple as welding up brackets to the floor, I don't think that would be strong enough. Plus, looking at a picture of the corvette rear suspension, you would probably need to relocate the fuel tank to give you some decent mounting points for the upper arms.

Suspension systems are four wheel systems. The front is designed to work with the rear. Now, I am not saying absolutely that mixing the two wouldn't work. But it would take a lot of testing to get the mounting points correct for the system to function properly. You could spend all the time to get every thing mounted, and then drive it, and have a decline in handling simply because the two systems aren't working together properly.

Check out the Street Rodder magazines. There are companies that make complete bolt-in kits. You'll need to create a sub-frame to mount it. Would be a MAJOR custom if it was done.
