Ok - so I've done a lot of searching, reading and studying on what does or does not make our cars launch well in a straight line. Ive tried to put everything together in to a list of goodies that ill look to go with on my drag racing set up. The car is not a daily driver and the most miles it sees is on its way to the track and back home again... With the occasional date night thrown in there, but ride quality doesnt matter. My question is, how does this look? Have i over looked anything or any recomended changes based on experience?

    Stock springs
    Bilstein HD shocks
    Boxed, poly LCA's
Poly Panhard rod (i get the feeling this is optional?)
    Torque Arm
32/19 front & rear sway bars (or removing front all together)
245/50/16 BFG Comp II tires (my choice)

    Thanks!!

If its strictly a drag car get rid of the front bar. Also look into a stall and if your serious you will need a bit better tire than that. That open dif needs to be the first thing addressed.

Yep ive already got an LSD and 3.42 gears to go in, just have to get them done. Im looking at the 4th of July time off to get it in. Thatll make a huge difference. The only thing about the tire is the track i run, the street class has to run a DOT Street radial. I dont know if im looking into it too much but that seems to me that a drag radial is out of the question.

            Re: Drag race suspension

What about springs & shocks. I know those will need to be replaced because the ones I have now are all stock. Seems like Bilstein is a pretty common choice but springs seem to be a very divided issue, looking through other posts. I do have ground effects so I am nervous about dropping the car much but would like to find a nice replacement for the stock springs that have been on the car for 118,000 miles now. What do you think?

You can go with stock springs and just upgrade the shocks to Bilsteins.

How fast do stock springs "wear out" or do they? I've got 118,000 miles on my stockers and just wondering if she'd benefit from new, stock replacements

Since your in there doing it , I would replace the stockers with some new springs.

                    Re: Drag race suspension

Believe it or not a slightly stiffer spring would be better in the rear, stock V8 springs would work.

In my 99TA I have the SLP Eibach Grey Spring/ Bilstein shock combo in the rear and Blue Eibach Drag springs in the front with a drag shock with front swaybar delete 275/40/17 MT DR's.

Stock LS1 with bolt ons and a FTI 3600 stall and 3.23 gears Founders RLCA's and PHD bar with a Spohn tunnel mount TQ arm.

                    Best 60ft is 1.70 and I consistantly do 1.72-1.75's

If I ever run on a race prepped track I think 1.6X is easily do able.

You can run 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson drag radials. They are dot approved and hook great. You should look into UMI performance, they make great suspension parts.
