Would the size difference be enough to mess up the speedo when going from the factory Goodyears(235/55) to a set of BFGs(245/50)?

it will be so slight you will never tell.

That is 5 millimeters of length on the tire wall. If I remember chemstry correctly, that is 1/2 centimeter...just to explain what a slight difference that is.

With the 245/50s your speedo will read about 2mph higher at 60 than it does now.

Is there an easy and cheap way to fix that?

You have a 2000, so you can buy an HPP3 for what 350 dollars? About the easiest way.

However, 350 dollars for maybe 2mph off? Seriously if anything it will help you. You'll think you're cruising at a higher speed than you really are, cops may leave you alone for doing 77 on the interstae when you're really doing 80 or around. I know that may seem far fetched, but I know if I was a cop and i saw a big 80 on my gun, I'd be more tempted to chase you down rather than doing 77-78mph.

The difference in diameter between the 2 is 1cm, 3.14 cm circumpherence difference. If you compare that to the total circumpherence of your tires its not too much, so id agree with ignoring it. And like they said going smaller makes it seem like your going faster than you really are so its not a problem.

You'll read faster on your speedo, by like 1.5 mph at 60. So your actually going 58.5 when it says 60. I made this switch about a week ago when I switched from the Eagles to some Yoko's.
