I always get 20-21 MPG, no matter how I drive, if I use AC or not, different tires and wheels. Nothing changes it. Very strange.
Wider tires could also weigh more and therefor more work for your motor to get up to speed.
1997 Chevrolet Camaro v6 - 13.8@104MPH
1997 Dodge Viper GTS
245-50-16 tires have a smaller circumference than 215-60-16's, that's why ur getting a little less mpg, and the fact that it's got a bigger footprint on the road means more friction and drag.
2001 Arctic White Firebird<br />More mods than I\'m allowed to list!
A Smaller size tire is like a higher gear ratio. You will see probably more acceleration, and higher rpms. But your tires aren't much different in size anyhow. I bet you won't notice a thing. I don't know about the gas mileage.
Trucks with big tires get bad mileage because those tires weigh a *TON*. PLus those trucks usually have a 454 or something astonishing and pull a ton of weight anyway.
I don't think those tires would have caused that big of a difference in the gas mileage. Personally.

I notied a lot when I went from 235GA's to 225-60 avid sports. Milage didn't change like I was told it would. The strange thing I noticed, was that my speedo used to read wrong, and now it reads right. go figure. I wish I had gotten some wider tires though. Cornering sucks. The easy burnouts are almost worth it.
