  • how do our cars do with slicks

may be a stupid question but can we even spin drag radials stock? i know that the 7.5" 10 bolt pretty well sucks for racing. but i was wondering how well they held up with our motors on slicks specifically. my car is turbocharged but it will launch like a stock 3.8/t5. i can get my hands on some DOT drag radials. the rear end will have 3.73's and the auburn lsd
i'd rather not break it, but would be fun to have traction

Just don't launch hard. Manual transmissions are harder on the rear end than an auto.

Also take it easy from second to 3rd, every pop story I've ever heard of is 3rd gear let's go.

I've launched pretty damn hard w/410's and no issues to date... Most receently on MT Et Streets.

This is a good start: LINK

You just have to find the sweet spot. Lee Norton ran a T-5 in his stock eliminator car and put a lot of abuse/hard launches on it and it held up just fine. That thing was probably making close to 300hp at the crank.

You can run a really sticky drag radial, or a good set of slicks. The drag radial tech has come a long way over the last few years, especially with the popularity of the drag radial classes.

I tanked 2 diffs in my car already. A zexel when I was cam only with a stall, and an Eaton when I was heads/cam. My car at that time as A4 with 3.90 gears and a 3200 stall. I now run an 8.8 Ford rear because I am not going to rebuild a 10 bolt a 3rd time.

My Eaton posi lasted like a year and a week or a year and a month...something stupid like that considering the money I paid for it
