Thanks Dominic! Does anyone here have the Q1 HAL front springs and all 4 shocks? I read on BMR's web-site they weight like 17lbs less per set. That is -34lbs! Thinking about replacing factory shocks with those. Not sure on the springs though. Anyone tried this set up?
If you're looking for weight savings, you're talking like a drag racer. The people who design suspensions for handling don't usually factor in weight unless its obsurdly high or low. I know for a fact the bilstein shocks are heavier than stock (theyre a lot bigger for one thing), however the gains they provide in ride control makes up for their extra poundage.
35lbs is not going to make a whirl of difference on a circuit or autox course.
35lbs. shocks
30lbs spare tire
12lbs drive shaft
15lbs dyna batt
4lbs ligher wheels
= about 96lbls less, and we can keep going. There is a method to the madness. LOL! So has anyone used the Q1 HAL front springs and all 4 shocks?
I am just concerned with something this light compared to others that are good shocks. Then maybe they are not as good?
Theyre good for drag racing, and theyre okay on the street. I hear their firmer settings are extremely stiff and ride bad, and have to ride bad (too much bump to get the right rebound) in order to handle okay. For drag racing theyre great though, good weight transfer. Id say theyre safe shocks to run, but dont look for it to ride better by any means - the HALs supposedly ride badly.
