stiffer brakes

hi, everybody.
I have a question about my brakes. i have a 1996 firebird with new pads. stock rotors and calipers
i want to make them feel "stiff". So when i just tap them a little they break hard, instead of having to push the petal to the floor. On my parents 2 pontiacs the breaks are real tight, a grand prix and a montana. I opened the break fluid resouvour the other day, and it was full, but spelt like fish. Is that a sign of anything?

the only thing i can think of is raise the brake fluid pressure. why do you want your brakes to be touchier?

Well brake fluid isnt supposed to smell like flowers. First, I would flush, fill and bleed your brake system, to make sure there is no air in the systewm, giving you a softer pedal. Then if you want to spend money... the design of the calipers is what gives you a stiff, more responsive brake pedal. Upgrade to SS brakes or something, and it will be like your parents cars. ;)

yeah, you could always upgrade

Earl's stainless steel Brake Lines, valvoline synthetic brake fluid, and three tries to get all the air out of the lines and my brakes feel great.

I'll go along with RGB. I have the Earl's steel lines, along with Super Blue racing fluid.

yea, just upgrade the lines. stainless steel lines are sweet. basically, when you break normally, the excess pressure in the lines just expands the hose, and doesnt add more pressure to the caliper/pad.

stainless lines make all the pedal pressure go toward the caliper.

where do the metal lines turn into rubber? I looked under my car, and it appeared that the lines were steel all the way to the caliper
