  • Strut Tower Brace?

Is it worth getting a STB? Does it actually help with steering? Thanks.

    Re: Strut Tower Brace?

I noticed a difference in how it reacted when turning under hard braking. That was about it. For me it was worth it. Don't forget your adding a few pounds of front end weight with it.

I been thinking about a tower brace, too.

How did you measure the difference in how the car reacted under braking/turning?

What other suspension mods does your car have?

Unfortunately I didn't have any real way of measuring the difference at the time. You could probably turn some auto-x lap times with and without to ballpark a difference, but all I can say at this point is that cornering under hard braking seemed more predictable and consistent.

        As far as suspension:

This is the second strut tower brace. I sold the first ebay brace I bought when I removed the 3.8 from my camaro, and built the one I am using now.
Energy Suspension poly master bushing kit
QA1 adjustable coil overs front w/ road race spring
replaced strut mounts and ball joints
        Suspension Techniques sway bars
        3-point subframe connectors
adjustable torque arm with relocated brace
        adjustable panhard bar
        Lakewood rear lower control arms
I'm currently using an adjustable drag shock on the rear with stock spring. I'd definitely like to upgrade to QA1 adjustables on the rear also one day.

the shock tower brace significantly increased my steering effort, and made it more responsive. The body roll is minimized but to completely nullify the body roll, in front, you need the shock tower brace and the bigger front anti roll bar. Nevertheless, the shock tower brace is an excellent investment.

What brand did you go with? I've heard good things about BMR.

STB are not all the same. Only Hotchkis makes a properly designed STB.

If I do use one, it'll have to be a custom fabbed kit. I'll have to wait until I get my modified holden intake...

Waiting on some time so I can get my SFC's welded in first lol!
