with my '93 bird my abs inop light came on...well two days later every once in a while when i was driving on a dry smooth road my low trac light would come on....i thought that was weird so i took a backroad instead of the highway....well sure enough..when i tried to stop for a light my low trac light came on and my car didn't stop!!! It felt like i had slammed on my brakes on an icy road!! my car slowly came to a stop inches away from the car in front of me...i got told i had to replace the abs system ...i replaced the brakes the brake pads and my car was fine after that...happy u got it fixed before something like this happened.. get it checked out your better off not waiting till your brakes just stop working like mine did..
the light goes on for different reasons usually it's just something small that's messing everything up...and it doesn't always mean the whole abs system has to be replaced

Is there anyone who has not had problems with the pesky abs inop light? Once or twice a week mine will light up. Even after a complete brake job this still occurs. Took the car back to the dealership three times for this. Each time they diagnosed it as "dirty abs sensor". They would tell me that they cleaned off the sensor and reset the codes. I finally got tired of going through all of the trouble and have just learned to live with it. I get the strange feeling somehow that if i go back to dealership now that my warranty has long expired it will go from dirty abs sensor to bad abs unit and a $1000 repair. I think we all know how that works. .......
