    Hey ya'll -

I'm looking at purchasing a set of American Racing wheels that currently have tires on them at 255/55r15. My question is more toward the size of the wheel. Can any of you tell me what the size of the rim is based on the tire size? Secondly, if I do go with these, since I'm going to be racing them at the strip, will I need any modifications to get them on correctly?

    Thanks!

255 is width of tire, 55 is tire wall size and 15 is the rim size.

If you're curious about the width of the wheels, it should be stamped on the inside if you take a wheel off and look. I imagine its between 8-9.5 based on the tire size

Yeah I was more curious about the width of the wheel. I was figuring it was around 8. I'm trying to decide if these would be a good purchase to put my MT ET streets on or not. I'm worried about clearances and back spacing since I know nothing about new rims! Never changed them before.

Yes, but I'm not sure what kind. Here is the ad for them: http://lasalle.craigslist.org/pts/4041320179.html. Not a lot of details but did send me a pic of them. Pretty simple 5 spoke pattern and looked to be in good condition. All I need them for is strip duty. But dont want to have to deal with break clearence and stuff if they are too short. I know the 98+ have issues with that but mine is a 97
