So i want to totally remove my back seat, and place a sway bar or two where the back rest used to be. Just seems like a neat idea, will save on weight a lil bit, plus it'd be unique i think. IS this possible? What bar would ya'll reccomend?

Removing the rear seats gives you extra "trunk" space too. Since I carry my tools and such in my car its nice to have more room. The only problem I've found with taking out the backseats is the portion of the floor not covered by the carpet. *shrugs* I guess I just pick up on that stupid stuff.95 3.4L
http://www.myspace.com/1277388
http://www.cardomain.com/profile/altspacen
http://groups.myspace.com/camarov6

Hawgs,
Good point about the weight. However, the roll cage doesn't weigh nearly that much. Once i've removed all of the excess weight in the back seat, i'll have removed morethan 50 pounds anyway. I don't know what they teach in texas, but in virginia we think things all the way out.
Its cute that you're looking out for me tho ;)Now, how badly do YOU want to see my brake lights?

Pacesetter headers, 3 inch y pipe, high flow cat, magnaflow catback, many suspension mods, intake, built a4 with 3200 torque converter, 5 angle head job, dis 4, firewires, etc etc....

Why, because he's right? The backseats don't weigh that much. And if you get a full rollcage, it will weight beyond 50lbs, I assure you of that! Also, unless you have the power to run fast enough to warrant a rollcage, you're wasting your time and money! It's kind of like neon lights on an import, unless the car actually needs them to operate, you just look lame for having them.www.fullthrottlev6.com THE SOURCE!

Fellas Fellas!
I just removed the back rest, and the Butt portion of the seats. I come to find that the butt portion is foam and fabric with a big portion of wire going around the perimeter. The back portion of the seats are foam and plastic! I thought for sure that the backing to the seat was aluminum or steel since it is what would keep the back seat from crumbling in an accident. Actually, it looks like if another car hit our F bodies at above 30 mph (in the back seat area) the care would crumple like a F-ing tin can! HAWGS, you were right mate. I put em on a scale, and no where near 50 lbs. I was gonna take a pic of the seats on the scale and humiliate you, but no dice haha. The general consensus is that a simple bar going from one side of the back seat to the other wouldn't in any way help stiffen the suspension? Now, how badly do YOU want to see my brake lights?

Pacesetter headers, 3 inch y pipe, high flow cat, magnaflow catback, many suspension mods, intake, built a4 with 3200 torque converter, 5 angle head job, dis 4, firewires, etc etc....

If you want to stiffen the suspension get SFCs, STBs, 32mm front swaybar, Bilstein HDs, Lowered springs. Rollcage is meant to use as a protection of a driver when the car rolls over at an excess speed.

Do you mean a simple chassis brace similar to a front tower brace? You threw everybody off when you said "sway bar" in your first post and then said the rksport roll bar was what you were looking for. At this point I'm really confused.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

Removing the seats doesn't get rid of hardly any weight. Leave the seats, just remove the seat belts (thats were all the weight is). The seats themselves may weigh 5 lbs for all 3 pieces.00\' firebird v6 5spd
201rwhp ---- 230 rwtq
\"Everyday I grow stronger...and further from you.\"
WARNING: Do not take any of my comments seriously unless they are technical in nature and then only at your own risk
