What is the harm in buying cheap knock off rims, as long as you put good rubber on them.

it all depends on what you mean as cheap. do you have a link? if your talking about knock offs like c5 wheels, we all have knock offs. i dont know a single person that would pay thousands for GM C5 wheels.

Either those or just the cheap $499.00 specials you see in car magazine's.
When I bought the car it has rims but they are only 16, I'd like to go with 17 or maybe 18

The harm could be the rim could weigh alot more, it could not be true, like it could be bent or warped. Sh!t me not, I saw one persons rims come warped from the factory. Of course these were large diamtere wheels, when they were first coming out, but it CAN happen. If I had to do it over again, I would seriously but the 10 spoke SS replica rims for $400 from SLP.
