• Stupid Question of the day! Sway Bar?

Will a bigger rear sway bar improve my 60' times?
If so whats a good size, 21mm? Currently my 60' times with my 3.4 is 2.2 with tubular and poly bushed LCAs w/ relocation brackets, Panhard rod, Adjustable Torque arm, and Subframe connectors. Would a sway bar be the next step in cutting time off the 60'?

Thanks!

Sway bars are meant to prevent the vehicle form leaning in corners (side to side). I'm 99.9% sure there wouldn't be any benefit in drag racing.
I'd buy some super sticky tires for the rear, if you don't already have them.

:buzzer sound: WRONG!

Yes a bigger rear sway bar can help with traction at the strip. A 21MM would be a nice middle ground between street and strip use. It wouldn't be TOO big to make your car want to oversteer but it will help some at the track.

</font>
Correct. Anything to help stiffen up the rearend is a good thing BUT stiffen it too much you will have one tight *** (literally)....

"It (21 rear) wouldn't be TOO big to make your car want to oversteer..."

Disagree. With stock springs a 21 rear will cause oversteer in the very situations when you want oversteer least (emergency swerve, slippery pavement, hard acceleration off a corner).

It's at best marginal on the street, personally I think it's unsafe.

Yea uh, the 19 i put on my car, just a 2mm upgrade, caused my car to oversteer. Bad in rain on highway, bad accelerating out of corners. I put the stocker 17 back in and was fine.

So don't upgrade swaybars unless I have better springs?

True - but you are also using stock size tires. get something fatter on the back and you wont have that problem :D

The width you're running -- thats stock size :\

Hey white95, are you installing that LT-1 throttle body yourself? Like doing the modification? If so, tell me how it goes. I am doing mine sometime soon.

A friend of Tiago's is moding it for me. I think he posts on the borad here, his name I think is Speed. I'll find out how everything goes in a couple of weeks after I get my manifold back from the machine shop, send it to him, and get it back

stock tires are 235, i have 245's.

upgrading just the rear is a mistake, trust me. but hell, if you dont trust me, try it, youll see. i reviewed my experience with it on my website, if you want to look at that.
