you have traction control?...I didnt know that was an option on a V6....well on my friends Z28 the ASR button is right next to the foglights....I thought v6'ers only came with SGS(second gear start)

6r's do come with a tcs but it doesnt work the same as on a v8. it controls the engine power like if the wheels break loose the engine starts slowing donw like with a rev limiter or speed governer. if you have tcs there should be a switch where the convertable button would be and it just clicks on or off i dont think they put them on without the switch. but when ever you tourn the car off and back on tcs will come back on. i had it on my other firebird it was kinda nice in the rain but other thatn that it just got on my nerves and im glad i odnt have it anymore.no fate but what we make
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748167/1

yep they have it right where our SES button is. It's funny some ricer Firebird kid I met (told me he had a SC when he's bone stock) told me he has 215hp w/o traction control on. I couldn't help but laugh at him.
BTW, I spanked his car badly in a race one day just to shut him up.

i know what second gear start is and i know where that button is and i know that on older model t/a's they have the button in the center councel. is that where mine is suppossed to be? all i know is that when i hit the brakes hard sometimes, a low trac light comes on, i was just wondering if i could disable that trac somehow.White \'97 Firebird V6
t-tops
80 series Flowmaster Exhaust
SLP CAI
180* stat
tinted side and back windows
3\" echo pipes/chrome tips
headlight conversion kit
fog lamps
smoke rear and turning lamp covers

if you have the SGS button then you don't have the traction control system (for acceleration). However all Camaro/Firebirds have anti-lock brakes and a slew of other things to help the car have traction during braking. The car is letting you know it senses low trac (during braking) if one wheel is spinning at a different speed then the other wheels. The ABS system then tries to compensate.
edit: I just read you last post...you want to disable it during braking?!?!!? Are you nuts! Well anyways if you really want to do that, I believe if you unplug your VSS sensor then that screws up the ABS system, thus removing "traction" control for a controllable stop.

ok, i get it now, so its not the usual traction that i hear about with acceleration; it is only involved in braking. so, hell no! i don't want to disable it.
