  • upgrading rear drums to disc brakes

I would like to know how expensive nad the difficulty of upgrading the rear drums to disc brakes.

I know you have to take off all the drum stuff and replaced with disc but do you have to do anything with the brake line and the master cylinder?

It would be easier and cheaper to just buy a new rear-end that had the disc breaks allready. You can get a complete 3.23 rear-end with lsd for $300 from tacreations.com . They can sell you everything you need to do it too.

My question is if the brake lines are compatible from drum to disc. You who have disc, look under your car and see where ur brake lines run. Their may be two? Mine meet together into one above the differential.

The brake lines are no problem, but you must modify the hand or emergancy brake cable. Also the front to rear brake bias are not the same, therefore if you are going seriously use brakes you should also change the ABS brake bias to Z28 unit. Street only proceed at your own risk.

I run stock lt1 rear end with my car, never did naything to the bias, and car works fine on the street and autocross, and stops better then they ever did with my drums.

the lines link up correctly, I bought mine form www.speedautomotive.com, whole rear axle with brake lines and ABS reluctor ring, all stuff works fine, ABS, low track light, even seems to work better then it did before the rear axle swap.

Also all stock lt1 and ls1 rear ends come with LSD, and you can upgrade to 3.42s.

For what its worth I think www.tacreationsusa.com sucks, they have shafted me on some deals before, I got my lt1 driveshaft and complete rear axle in good shape from www.speedautomotive.com.

What did shipping cost you on that rear end? How far was it shipped?

I forgot wear they were based, but I it cost $83 dollars, I had it shipped truck freight where I pick it up at a supply depot, came with rear axle, all lines, calipers, one rotor was warped, rear shocks, and a I picked up an lt1 drivesahft, I was too poor to afford a ls1 driveshaft at the time, my stock rear end was done, and I had no car so I needed to get it going agian.

The $83 was to have it shipped to downtown, FL.

I woudl choose to deal with them and pay $150 in shipping if it costs that much then go to tacreationsusa, which is 30 min. from my parents place so I could save on shipping.
