  • what springs for stock SS performance look???

You know how the SS sits pretty high or at least looks like it does. well my springs are worn out (150,000 miles + hard acceleration all the time = 2" drop in rear) it looks really bad and the back slams hard on big bumps.

i put two people in the back of my car and the exhaust scrapes!. i want to keep my car high, but was looking a little toward performance, but at least need new stock springs.

i have new les schwab shocks in the back but that only helped the slop a little now i just need springs.

i would like to go all the way around (front and back)

if anyone had links or sugestions that would be great. thanks

If you're looking for cheap go with a pair of take-off V8 springs from SLP or eBay for the rear. The difference in spring rate between V6 and V8 rear is negligible.

SS and WS6 springs offer a 1" lowered ride height compared to the regular V8 ones.

do you have stock v8 springs or SS/Ws6 springs?

could you tell me where you got yours and from what make, model, and year you got yours from.

also more suggestions from others would still be nice? thanks

if it keeps the height or raises it i wonder if it is from different swaybars, panhard bar, etc.

i at least want my car to set a little higher than stock hieght or regular height with v8 springs. i hate bottoming out and i like the look of camaros setting higher more than when their setting lower.

in my opinion i think they look more ricey to me.

                      Stock SS

That's the SLP/Eibach springs, advertised to give a 1" drop over standard V8 springs.

                      Stock Z28

                      And a stock height Z28.

Hmmm,... the SS might look a little lower, but not by much.

they are WS6 springs off of a 2000 WS6 in early 2001 the WS6's supposedly changed from the 1LE spring to a regular V8 spring.

I checked the part number and compared them to the parts catalog, the are part of the FE4 handling package, which was the RPO code for the suspension of a 1LE setup (remember 1LE meant more than just suspension, there was no A/C and some other stuff done to lighten the car)

they are stiff, yes, it sits a little higher yes, but it's not bad, and I think if I went to a 17" wheel it would look better.

the only thing I regret at the moment was getting kenny brown subframe connectors

                          oah, about ride height:
I never measured my height before I put the springs on but I do know my car sat lower than most V6's I don't know the exact reason why because I was not the first owner of the car, they were stock springs, I know that because of the part number, but my springs were so low that the car could not be properly aligned the left front tire had negative camber that could not be adjusted out because the adjustment was bottomed out. it could be adjusted no more, by going to a stiffer spring and slightly raising my car I can now get a proper alignment.

--- one more thing about ride height, when I first put the springs on the car and measured all the way around, the height of the top of the wheel well was exactly the same all the way around the car, now that they have settled, I'm not entirely sure but to be honest it looks quite level at the moment.

if anyone has any questions feel free to e-mail me and I can fill you in more.

Mind telling us why? The only downsides I know are that you can see them a little, and cost. Otherwise I'm very happy with mine. Stiffened the convert a lot, nice places to jack the car.

[just saw this in the general forum]

                            "started creaking AFTER the subframes.."

Sounds like an install problem. Was the car up on all four wheels? Otherwise you can twist the car on jacks and then the subframes try to weld in the twist and maybe fail. Were the lcas disconnected and maybe not retightened properly? It's a two step process.

how much did they cost you, and do you think they are the same as the regular v8 springs or higher or?
