Does anyone know if the pinion angle can effect 1/4mile time and what a good pinion angle would be?

Your pinion angle will hurt performance depending on the degree of the angle. Cars come with a pinion angle of 0* which means that there is no bind/preload in the driveline/suspension. Many people switch to an adjustable torque arm so that they can chance pinion angle and improve 60 fts. According to my Spohn install directions of my adjustable torque arm they say -1* pinion angle is good on modified daily driven cars and -2-3* on high HP cars. They also say "there is no need to run more negative then that, it will actually hurt you performance because it will induce drveline bind."Ben

1995 White/Black 3.4L
As far away from stock as possible
My Site!!!
RedLineV6
Rebuild and 3.4 T70 Turbo is complete
Details to come....

^ agreed. it will not change the driveshaft cause of the bearing but then again it wold not on a 1 peice as well cause the U joint will take the change. The pinion angle is a direct relationship of the pitch of the rear end. it really has nothing to do with the driveshaft. In a perfect world your car would be at 0 from factory. but since it;s never a perfect world maintaining that relationship with an good TQ is a key factor1996 Silver camaro Z28. I went to the track before i got it adjusted (jegster ajustable torque are) and the shop that did it said it was at 17 and the put it at - 1 my alinment was also off. it's mostly a traction issue. you can upset your lauch and get wheel hop if your pinion angle is too far deflected1996 Silver camaro Z28.
