  • 98+ Front Brake Conversion

I'm looking to do the 98+ front brake conversion on my '94. I searched but nearly all results have to do with the rear drum->disc conversion.

I know I need left/right spindles, calipers and rotors. Some say need new hoses and some say old ones work fine. Also something about the brackets where the hard lines connect to the hoses being different? What about hubs? Can I reuse my old ones, or if I need new ones will I have any problems with ABS?

    Thanks

I would order the kit from TA Creations for $200. Comes with everything but pads. As far as install Just take everything from the spindle arms and up off then istall and bleed. I wouldn't reused the old stuff. When I did my rear brake swap I used the old hard lines. Sure enough 6 months later the spring snapped the line into because the line was too long. Hope this helps.

I've heard some bad things about TAC concerning them selling some damaged parts, and not owning up to it. But as for their kit, it doesn't include the hubs, which is why I wanted to make sure my old ones would work.

        The hubs should work.

yes, they have conversions on ebay from that site http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33564

Comes with everything but the hubs and pads. From what I understand there is usualy a problem with routing the brake hose. but I can not confirm this.

Everything works but the hoses. GM relocated them for the 98+ cars.

Use p/n 12217-SPL from Goodridge http://www.goodridge.net/ for a conversion kit. This kit was developed for me by Goodridge when I did my conversion.

              Thanks for the info.

The Goodridge lines are braided stainless, correct? I see part # 12217 but it shows for 93-97 rear disc w/o traction control. The same part works for the fronts then? Do you happen to recall about how much the kit was was, and are there any chains that carry them?

                NO!!

It must be 12217-SPL -SPL (special)!!

This for a 93-97 car with 98+ front brakes, 93-97 rear discs, and w/o traction control.

They must be ordered direct from Goodridge, no one carries them.

Ahh, so the kit comes with 4 new hoses to do both front and rear? I guess I would be SOL then as I am looking to go 98+ on the front and I have a 96 rear with traction control. :( Having a line kit special made sounds expensive...

This kit has 5 lines, TC would need 6 LINES.

Okay, the 5th hose being the one connecting the rear hard line to the T fitting on the axle?

I may be in luck then because I converted this TCS rear to use my T fitting and single line.

Are the hoses for the rear calipers the same between the TCS and non-TCS rears?

My only other question then is how much this kit costs?

                      Thanks

</font>[/QUOTE]If you converted it, it should be fine. Cost? You will have to call Goodridge.
