• power steering pulley making some noise

it just whines a bit. i bout some belt spray that you spray on your belt and pulleys and it makes whinings go away. well, i directed the stuff right on that pulley and the noise went away until i stopped spraying. so my question is...can i replace the pulley? or does this whining mean that my pump is about to go out? thx.

you can replace the pulley, but you're probably going to have to get that from the dealership/junk yard.

The pulley isn't included when you buy a power steering pump.

Try buying a new belt. Mine did the same and the whinning stop after I replaced it with a new one. Oh yeah, I would suggest to stop using that preston spray on belt thingie. It eats up the belt in due time.

i just replaced the belt not long ago. and i only used that spray once. i was a little low on fluid and so i added some and the sound seemed to diminish a little, but it's still there. i think it's left the "annoying" stage, and now that whine is in the "normal" car noise stage thx guys!

whining might mean that there is air somewhere.

might try bleeding the power steering pump, getting ALL of the air out, then see if it still whines.

Hey try looking at your idler pulley the one right under the alternator it does a fine job of passing noise off other places. its a cheap fix. Oh yeah real important the bolt that holds it on is reverse thread!!!! the pulley is available at any part store the bolt on the otherhand is a mother to try and find. email me if you got ???????????????
