  • Noise and Play in Steering

Today I noticed that when may car is sitting and I rock the wheel side to side off center it has some noticable play and a clunk type noise associated with it. What could this be? The steering does seem vague and not razor sharp but i really don't know it thats how f-bodys handle. Do you think its the rack?
    Thanks everybody!

I would have to drive it to tell. Sounds like a bad wheel bearing though...

First I would put your car up on stands in the front so your wheels are off the ground. If you place one hand on the top of the wheel and one of the bottom, then wiggle it back and forth. (not up and down like the way the shock compresses) I think this is what you were saying you did. Just want to make sure.

If you hear a slight clunk, or seems kinda loose like you are stating you may have a blown wheel bearing. I'm not sure on F-bodies if you can just buy the bearing or if you have go get the whole assembly, but either way. Check it out and let us know what you find. Best of luck, and hope that helps. ;)
