Can one change the rear drums to rotors instead?

I do not really like how the drums look...

You can change the rear drum to disk, but you'll need:
1- Emergency Brake Cables for Disk Brakes
2- Disk Rear Backing plates
3- Rear Calipers
3- Rear Rotors
If/when you do this swap, you'll have to pull the rear diff cover off and remove the axle c-clamps to remove the axles. The Backing Plates can then be removed.
If you are looking for a posi unit (if you don't already have one), you might as well buy the whole disk rear setup and install it. They are relatively cheap, especially if you pick it up yourself without S+H costs. I did the installation myself and had it done in approximately 4 hours.

There might be a cheaper way but just looking at my rksport catalog i found a good approximation; they have a kit for the conversion for $700

Whoa! You can get a whole (used) Posi Disk Rear setup for alot less than that! You flash $700 to someone selling a used posi disk rear, they'll probably install it for you, give you a free oil change, rotate your tires, and wax your car for you. At least, I would.

Hey i was just looking at a catalog. :D Of course regular price from an RKsport catalog will be a more than what you can get it done for. I talked to my dad last night (bodyshop) and he said it could be done for as much as a few hundred less through the right people and parts!
