• Question for Kumho (esp. 255/50/16) owners

My tires are going to need to be replaced sometime in the next few months. I might go with Kumho because money is getting very tight again.

My question: How noisy are the Kumho's and how durable (expected miles) are they?
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Not very noisy in my experience. Mine still have a decent amount of tread after 10k, I'd imagine they'll last a good 20-25k easy, maybe more. Could probably go alot more if you drive like my grandma ;)

Yeah, you will burn them up on the rear within time, BUT the wet traction is exceptional! I grew up in Ft.Lauderdale, and I know what the season(s) are like. You want a tire that can handle ALOT of rain! And I think the Kumho 712's are your answer Especially for the price.

Awesome tire in my opinion. Ive only overdriven them once. They will last if you have a light right foot, but the rubbber is soft at temperature. AA rating i think. Keep em rotated, more often if your dragging, and they should give you alotta miles. Got mine from tirerack.com Very good price and extremely fast shipping. Good luck!

I've been running on 255/50/16 711's and its been 21k and haven't even bothered to rotate them once, even after several auto-x (even won a few in STX ). You can't even tell they haven't been rotated, the wear on all the tires looks identical. Hopefully it will warm up enough this weekend for me to drag out the floor jack and do it though.

Oh yeah, I am running the pressures at 30 front, 32 rear. Dunno how much of an effect thats having on their wear, but thought I would mention it.

But yeah, the Kumhos are a great tire. I can see mine lasting for at least another 10-15k before they go byebye.

im running something like 4 psi lower than the max pressure indicated on the tire. Cant remember exactly what it is though. Gotta rotate mine too, just as soon as the lug lock comes in that i had to order because somebody (me) lost the damn thing.

I love mine. No noise, good traction, and the smoke just pours from them when doing a burnout Plus they look awesome.

I've had mine up front for like 9k miles now. No complaints from me. I agree that traction is good with them, especially in the wet. I can see mine just starting to wear, but I still have tons of tread left. Dunno about the rear though since I only have em up front.

i've got 245/50 kumho 712s. i've had them on for 20K miles now and i suspect i'll be able to get another 25K to 30K out of them. they should be good for about 40K-50K miles. you do need to rotate them about every 10K miles though. the tread on the sides will start to ripple if you don't because of the front end load on them.

they're not noisy at all, they're great in wet weather and even better in dry.

i'm going to assume that some here drive far more aggressive than i do. i don't peel out, but i find enjoyment in a good fast corner. they should last a while if you don't destroy them. they're well worth the money. i think i paid about $460 for the set at discount tire.

I would agree with the other posts. Kuhmo's are a very good value. Noise is not excessive. I have had mine for a couple of months now and the tread wear is very even.

A side note.... In my opinion, Kuhmo sidewalls are almost to soft. When i replaced my sumitomos I noticed that a bit more steering input is needed to get a steering reaction. They just feel a bit more sluggish in comparision.

Very little noise, good grip on dry surfaces and ok on wet roads though i have had them skid on me several times, but thats because i have a lead foot . They have been durable for me and are a good tire IMO

i just got my kuhmo's and i think they are an excellent tire. great traction in rain and all that good stuff. Since they are a performance tire they can not have a XXXXXmile rating, but thy are supposed to last about 40k miles if you dont burn them off. Just thought that little info would help. Yes the smoke is awesome from these
