On another note we will be adding 4-more points to his cage in the next couple of weeks. If you guys feel slow hanging around with friends with bolt-on only Ls1's I gotta contend with three 9-sec capable cars plus many 10 and 11 sec cars.

But it is nice when a supercharged viper raped me at the track my friend bryce raped him on his next run

OK my bad just talked to my friend. I was thinking of the latest one we did it was a vert and came in one piece and we dropped it in. The coupe came in 5 pieces. the main hoop with the cross bar. two rear bars and two front bars. My friend was installing light weight carpet at the same time. He said the instructions just said to peel the carpet back. He said just be careful when you weld the rear bars to the main hoop and you won't burn the headliner.

Problem is, it's been sitting in the basement because I haven't been racing and I'm not sure what to do with it at this point. Also, it isn't NHRA legal, so depending on who's doing tech that day, you might not get through if they know you have an 11 second (or faster) car. You might want to look into a Wolfe cage. You'll need at least a 5 point to be legal, but I would think that 6 point would be the way to go because it looks better. They also have ones with swing-out door bars. They are a bit pricey and require some welding. I got mine from RK Sport for $300 shipped to my door in bubble wrap during one of the months when they had a "free shipping" promotion. Some interior cutting of the plastic rear panels is necessary, which is another reason I haven't quite gotten around to installation. I don't want to butcher the car.... but imagine how bada$$ it'll look with the bar. Stefan has one of RK Sport's bars and I've seen others with them...it looks way cool and can save your life someday. I weighed mine and it was about 40lbs, so there will be a little weight gain with it. Some are more... like 60lbs. or so depending on the brand and how thick the steel is, ect.
damnit...i was thinking of getting rksport's ..oh well

                        I have one.

Best bet is to go to a local speed shop that specializes in welding bars, and get them to make you a nice 6-point bar. Around here we have a few speed shops that deal exclusively with F-bodies -- F-Body Central and Kent Island Speed. Tyson at FBC is a welding god, as is Eric at KIS.

On the street, unless you wear a helmet, a simple fender bender can smack your head on the bar and cause SEVERE damage. Its a known fact, thats why so many people are relucatant to do it.

I'm guessing he means that if you get in an accident you might hit your head on the bar. But you don't have to worry about that if you have a five point harness. You aint going nowhere believe me. You can barely reach your armss out to change the radio stations or use the temp controls. Personally I feel much safer with spirited driving when I drive or ride in one of my friends car with a cage. Just my 2 cents.

One of the mustang guys I met at a local car show
here said a roll cage saved his life. He was racing one of his friends one night when he lost control and put his drivers door into a light pole. He said if the door bar of the cage had'nt been there the pole would ahve been in the passenger seat.
