  • Front brake question !!! help ASAP .

Ok i have a 96 firebird with front disc and rear drums.... about 6-8 monthes ago i replaced the front calipers because one ( the passenger side) was hanging up and the pads where wearing faster than the other. Well even after the "fix" i always noticed that there is STILL more brake dust on the passenger side wheel than the drivers side ( i have white wheels so its EASY to tell) and now my passenger side pad is down to almost nothing and the drivers side is about 3/4 fine. WHAT else should i try? the caliper is new the brake hoses are new cause i was told that they could collapse and cause that. Is there some sort of recirc or proporting valve that i should get a new one or adjust or what?!?! I am doing this tomorow so anyhelp would be APPRECIATED greatly !!!!

here are some things to check:

      1) Did you pinch a metal line coming from the master cyl. by any chance while doing plugs, header work, wires, etc.?

      2) Is your break line on the caliper twisted?

      3) Did you change the fluid and perhaps get something in the lines? (good way to check this. when bleeding the breaks, pump the line for the front driver side once, and measure the fluid that comes out. then pump the pedal for the passanger side and measure the amount that comes out there. if the line is clogged, the drivers side will put out less than the pass. side, because the fluid will not flow as well.)

thats about all i can think of right now.

      anyone else?

Did the new calipers come with new pins also? Did you make sure the pins were greased well?
