• Do V8 springs lower or raise your ride height on a V6?

I did a search on this and found mixed results. Some say that they noticed that the front end was lower than before and others say your car sits a little higher. I have a set of V8 springs off a 2002 WS6 and was wondering what will happen to the ride height of my V6 once they are in? Can somebody please explain?

i know the coil in them is gonna be stiffer for sure it the front to compensate for the weight of the V8. the back could be about the same but i know FOR SURE the front will go up a bit.thus the reason you didn't see V8 springs in the Y87 performance package. but everything else the V8 has is their like the steering and posi rear along with bigger sway bars. Hey I just did that mod last year, I had put wider tires on my 98 bird and the tires would hit the well. that is If I ran fast over a bump or sump, I changed the springs and shocks (SLP V8 T/O)and the problem went away. I did not notice much increase in height but I did noticed a stiffer ride but not harsh, I would say sportier. if you have a gap you can use wider tires like from 245-50-16 to 255-50-16 just a suggestion, I run 245 in the front and 265 in the rear, I just like the muscle look.

I'll add that for racing purposes, a LOT of V8 guys switch to a stock spring off a V6. Food for thought, not everything off a V8 is better than we have stock

I had a set of LS1 front springs (WS6) on the front of my Camaro until this weekend (I installed 1LEs), it depends on the springs, but they will sit at the same height as the stock ones once they settle.

The thing with the V8 guys using V6 springs is goofy. Everybody thinks that all of the V6s use different rear springs from the V8s, but the 98+ V6s use the same rears as the V8s.

The 93-97 rear springs are what the V8 guys want, for drag racing.

also remember WS6 springs are different by year, my 98's are the same or very close to the 1LE parts, but the 2002's are same as a normal TA

Just an FYI: 98 is one of the years that GM included the 1LE suspension parts on some of the f-bodies.

They do this because v6 springs are are softer, causes the body to be more floppy and at the launch allows better weight transfer, since the rear end will "squat" more. But not better in a road racing setup.

They will raise the front end a little bit the rear will be fine, not sure how much, but the difference in lifting the front end, is the spring is made to hold a v8 engien at a certain heitght, while the v6 spring is made to hold a v6 at the same height.

Less weight in the front causes the spring to raise the fornt a little bit. Not as extreme as a pic of a ca with no motor in the front but still lifts the front.

I thought most of my ws6 suspension is 1LE specs, but i didn't want to say it, without proof, and confuse people, thanks for backing me up
